I recently discovered how and why to "favorite" a tweet on twitter. For facebook users - let me interpret:
Twitter - a social networking service that consists almost solely of "status updates." You are given 140 characters to answer the question "What's happening."
Tweet - term either means "tweets" or twitter friends or those you follow on twitter. Or tweet can mean and most commonly refers to "status update."
For non-facebook or any other social network site users - I'm not sure if there's a way for me to explain it any better to you. Sorry.
Starring a tweet as a "Favorite" enables you to essentially save your favorite statements, quotes, comments, etc. from your friend's and mentor's lives. Here are a few of my favorites:
God taught me the 5 Purposes of Church at 24, but few paid attention. Now, in my 50s, I ask "What 24 yr old should I be listening to?" @RichWarren
Mark Twain said, "I can live for two months on a good compliment." @NateRuch
When preachers downplay evangelism, how can they keep the church from stagnation? If God’s people do not view their overall purpose as winning souls, they become just sermon tasters, choir critics or leadership judges. The church is not a restaurant for fine food from the pulpit; it is a canteen for workers. With a job to do, saints have no time to criticize. A pulling horse never kicks. (3 tweets) @ReinhardBonnke
friend of John Ortberg: "Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life." Speed kills joy. @CliffBarrows
Note: When you see @ before a name, this is the person's twitter username. You can find people like this by adding the name after the @ to http://twitter.com/ (here).
