Seeing with eyes for eternity
"So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." (2 Corinthians 4:18, NIV). "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." (Hebrews 12:2, NIV).
Author Leonard Ravenhill has said, "This life is but a dressing room for eternity." Christ finished his work and left those who make up his Church here on earth to prepare for his return (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
When that day comes, our opportunity to touch the lives of those around us will have passed. We will never again get the chance. Each passing day is like sand through our fingers. Scripture tells us no one knows the day or hour of his return (Mark 13:32-36). This may not be the generation of Christ's second coming, but for each of us this is OUR last generation. This is our last chance. What or who will we leave as our legacy? Where will we have fixed our eyes?
