The God Who Names the Stars

Our pastor shared in church yesterday breifly on the wonder of God.  Scripture tells us God names the stars.

Astronomers tell us today there are billions of stars in the Milky Way galaxy alone.  Our galaxy is one of billions upon billions of known, seeable galaxies via the Hubble Telescope.

Our God had the creative power to make all that we can possible see and discover with the greatest inventions of humanity (Genesis 1:16).  And yet he takes the time to give each star a number and a name (Psalm 147:4)!

And yet as big as God is, for some reason he also knows our names.  Scriptures says he knows even more than our names - he counts the numbers of hairs on our heads (Matthew 10:29-31.  When we read the Bible, we can't get away from the fact that God cares deeply, intimately about each detail of our life (Psalm 37:23).  God loves you, he is with you through the thick and the thin.  Will you open your heart to him.  Will you let him cover you when alone and discouraged and heal you when you are in pain?
